So Cal Halos-College Developmental Program
The So Cal Halos are a College Developmental Baseball program. The goal of the program is to give high school players a chance to play at the next level at a Division I, II, III, NAIA, or Junior College program.
The So Cal Halos 2018 team consists of mainly seniors and select underclassmen. The teams’ season runs from June to November. They compete in National Tournaments, play other College Developmental Programs, and against junior college teams. The team is coached by Jimmy Walker, current Pitching Coach at Ventura College and a former NCAA assistant coach and Charles Merricks, former UCLA player and professional player with the Colorado Rockies. They are also helped helped by Matt Merricks, former professional player with the Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, and Colorado Rockies.
The So Cal Halos 2019 team will consists of the top juniors and a select sophomores and freshmen. They will compete in national tournaments. They will also play a schedule versus other College Developmental Programs underclass teams. This will give younger players a chance to make a name for themselves as they go through the recruiting process.
The So Cal Halos 2020-2021 team consists of players that will be sophomores and freshmen. The teams’ head coach is Matt Merricks and he is helped by Jimmy Walker and Charles Merricks.
The So Cal Halos staff over the past 5 years has helped over 60 high school players achieve their dream of playing baseball at the next level across the country. The staffs connections to numerous college coaches and experience through the recruiting process gives players an inside look into the world of college recruiting. The staff helps players and their parents navigate college visits, emails, recruiting questions, and the numerous showcases and camps offered across the country.
